SUMMARY:
Our client an OEM mobile equipment manufacturer for the mining sector is seeking a proactive and assertive Design Engineer to design mechanical and hydraulic systems and components.

POSITION INFO:

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • B Eng. (Mech.) or B Tech.
  • The design and manufacture of prototype equipment experience will be an advantage.
  • 5 years’ experience in a similar position, with specific experience in the design of heavy mobile equipment.
  • Knowledge of materials and manufacturing/assembly processes.
  • Experience in the use of 3D solid modelling CAD packages (experience with Siemens packages would be an advantage).
  • Knowledge of business systems with an understanding of Inventory Management will be an
  • advantage.
  • Experience in design control systems would be an advantage.

Key Result Areas:

  • Specification and detailed design of mechanical and hydraulic systems and components.
  • Integration of mechanical and hydraulic systems into mining equipment.
  • Design calculations.
  • Simulations, design verification and design validation for mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Creating Bills of Material, configuration control of technical documents.
  • Interface with customers regarding design requirements.
  • Technical support for purchasing (liaise with suppliers).
