POSITION INFO:

Job Position: Mechanical Design Engineer

Ref: 3734

Location: Port Elizabeth
Salary: R25 000 to R40 000 per month negotiable commensurate with experience and qualification  

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or B Tech with 7 years’ experience in mechanical environment
• Minimum 3 years relevant design experience
• Minimum 3 years relevant fabrication experience
• Be prepared to complete an assessment and interview process
• Excellent technical design and calculation abilities
• General computer literacy - particularly MS Office suite for report writing
• Previous experience with any programming language will be advantageous
• Fluent in at least 1 standard CAD design package Eg Inventor, Creo, Solidworks, etc
• Knowledge of stainless steel and mild steel metals and welding will be an advantage
• Effective communication skills, active listener – ability to understand requirement
• Proactive problem solver, perform rapid and accurate assessment
• Ability to work independently, as well as being a positive team player
• Conduct self professionally, exhibits elevated levels of tolerance and patience
• Responsible for continued learning and self-development
• Troubleshoot systems and components to identify root causes of failure
• Self-disciplined with ability to work independent from supervision
• Team player with ability to work as part of a team
• Problem solving skills and good interpersonal skills
• Ability to function under pressure
• Knowledge of German will be an advantage
• Experience in running projects will be an advantage

Key Performance Areas:

• Compile innovative custom designs in line with customer specifications
• Improve existing customer designs in line with customer specifications
• Create CAD design drawings in line with specifications
• Consult and liaise with engineering team, production, sales, customers and suppliers
• Customer and supplier visits when required
• Generate high quality technical briefs and reports from test and design data
