Material Scheduler/Planner

SUMMARY:
Our client, a global company in the Chemical/Agricultural industry, based in Durban, is seeking to employ an experienced Material Scheduler/Planner

POSITION INFO:

Job Description:

The primary function of this role is to manage the ordering of packaging materials to provide continuous and uninterrupted service to the manufacturing plant by ensuring that material is delivered to site in the correct quantity and at the right time.

Responsibilities and duties:

• Create, follow up and maintain Purchase Orders (PO) in SAP based on actual commitment and predefined limits and ensure correct expected delivery dates are in SAP and communicated in a timely manner. • Ensure material availability, optimised inventory levels and Purchase order master data integrity of assigned products through usage of planning systems and tools to support Manufacturing plan.
• Provide rolling monthly/quarterly forecast to key suppliers per the SNP.
• Review and report on Supplier late orders/volume misses for packaging materials. Escalate problematic suppliers to procurement for resolution. 
• Escalate any risks in supply horizons  for mitigation and action to be taken.      
• Daily review and monitor of days/weeks cover as per SNP tracker. Purchase actions reports and production plan for review - ensuring scheduling into Sites with Supplier is on track.
• Review pending  purchase order approvals for Global Approval and follow up on release. 
• Analyse SNP dependent demand proposals in detail querying with production and warehouse to ensure all stock details are accurately reflected and aligned to SNP and Purchase Actions. 
• Review with Procurement the portfolio of products that are required to be purchased and complexity matrix in sourcing requirements, EOQ/MOQ, categorisation and master-data alignment.
• Get orders signed off by Purchasing for pricing, sourcing and incoterms to get off to suppliers within lead time of placing orders to secure supply date. 
• Provide back up support to other Planners due to leave.
• Procurement: Close liaising to support with forecast and volume required to ensure costing and confirmed supply is achieved to support Manufacturing plan
• Production Planning: Close interaction on the confirmed manufacturing plan and support to align supply of packaging materials to ensure service level to Customer is maintained. Stock cover review
• Commercial Team: Support with material changes due to new product launches, changes in labels /certifications and management of change.
• Supplier: Close interaction on forecast, purchase order scheduling and demand reliability to support Manufacturing plan.

Knowledge, education and experience required:

• 3 to 4 years’ working experience in a corporate Supply Chain environment (Planning preferred)
• Grade 12
• Bachelor Degree/ Diploma in Purchasing/Supply Chain
• CPIM is advantageous
• Experience with SAP (PP/MM modules)Experience with SAP (PP/MM modules)
• Understanding of warehouse flows and storage principles, Inventory Management and Materials management .
