Material Controller (Contract)

PURPOSE

Effective monitoring, control and administration of material

KEY JOB OUTPUTS: The key job outputs of the function include, but are not limited to:

• Supervision of Subordinates
• Material Control direct Materials
• Maintain and ensure correct inventory to meet customer requirements
• Oversee and manage the direct material MRP system
• Manage all the exception errors through appropriate counter measures
• Monitor sourcing and purchasing in-line with customer demand requirements
• Oversee and manage receiving of goods and processing documentation related to all (LCT’s).
• Manage and implement goods receiving system through timely transactions and required material movements.
• Monitor supply issues, implement actions to rectify and ensure no customer risk.
• Operate material control in-line with budget and adjust as per forecast working within the ambit of the system.
• Liaise with material Suppliers to optimize RAW materials profile.
• Implement, monitor, and maintain proper system housekeeping standards
• Plan, implement actions and oversee stock taking interventions related to the raw material warehouse including annual stock take.
• Ensure all suppliers receive full, accurate & on time orders.
• Receive and book goods into correct locations in an accurate and timely manner, liaising with inter-company and planning teams for any discrepancies.
• Ensure that, the material shipments are in-line with the order requirements and must manage the under and over delivery quantities.
• Attend to and resolve stock discrepancies
• Build and maintain effective relationships with Key Suppliers
• Track shipping schedules and ensure the implementation of counter measures to remedy should there be any delays
• Execute Continuous improvement directives and initiatives
• Maintain good housekeeping and standard practices at all times
• Stimulate material flow inside the plant
• Maintain knowledge of products and processes involved in the day-to-day delivery of goods
• Support and suggest the effective management of inward & outward flow of inventory

KEY COMPETENCIES: Essential competencies (knowledge/skill) required to perform outputs:

• National Diploma: Logistics Management.
• 5 years’ experience in Material Control position in automotive manufacturing Industry
• Excellent knowledge and 5 years’ experience in a material controlling environment
• 5 Years’ experience on execution of stock controls, cycle counting and stock take
• Interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to build strong working relationships
• Ability to function at all levels in the organization

KEY PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

• The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following key attributes:
• Sound knowledge of a fully integrated IT system (SYSPRO advantageous),
• A working knowledge of IATF16949 Quality Management System
• Advanced Microsoft Excel Competencies & other office applications,
• Ability to interpret material specifications from Drawings,
• Knowledge and technical understanding of automotive processes and components and supply chain management,
• Ability to add value and make business improvements,
• Build Supplier customer relationships,
• Knowledge and experience in transportation, preparation of orders and warehouse management (Indirect Materials)
