JOB DESCRIPTION:

Short Summary:
 
The main responsibility of this position is the procurement of raw and packaging materials. It is also the total demand planning function which includes the review of minimum and required stock levels, translating forecast into demand plan for all services and goods as per MRP system requirements and stock replenishment instructions to be authorised by the Procurement Manager.

Responsibilities:           
  • Procurement Administration
    • Identify new or alternative suppliers to improve the Supplier database.
    • Source products and materials as required for New Product Development.
    • Review demand forecast for accuracy to improve the process and optimise stock holding.
    • Determine and manage demand for raw and packing material to ensure continuous supply:
      • Determine minimum stock levels for all raw, packing and consumable material.
      • Review minimum stock levels continuously.
      • Calculate and communicate replenishment orders to the Junior Buyer.
      • Continuous interaction with production planning to determine changes in demand.
    • Determine demand and action replenishment for contract packaged final products.
    • Responsible for the Contract Management for Procurement:
      • Manage and reconcile commodity contracts to ensure timeous and fulfilment of contracts.
      • Manage RSPO process and report on Palm Olein oil purchased.
    • Create and maintain a knowledge base for all raw and packing materials to determine alternatives and solutions for limited availability and short supply.
    • Weekly and monthly reporting on all procurement measurables and supply restrictions.
  • Price and Tender Administration
    • Develop and maintain benchmark indicators for key raw and packaging materials.
    • Assist Procurement Manager in price negotiations of raw and packaging materials.
    • Keep a record of the latest approved supplier prices and update the price list system.
    • Process negotiated prices and or tender results to a database for consideration and approval.
    • Update approved and allocated prices on price lists.
  • Import Management
    • Receive and review all documentation for imported goods.
    • Update database for all imports in conjunction with service providers.
    • Communicate progress on imports to relevant stakeholders.
  • Other procurement functions
    • Investigating and reporting on all internal non-conformances.
    • Open and manage all supplier non-conformances to ensure timeous feedback and corrective action.
    • Ad hoc projects are required to identify improved business processes and implement solutions.
    • Ad hoc reporting as required by the Procurement Manager.
    • Liaise between planning, stores, logistics and suppliers for all procurement-related queries.
Key Competencies:

Education and Experience

  • Relevant qualifications in Supply Chain Management or Procurement
  • A degree in Commerce/ Supply Chain/ Logistics would be an advantage
  • At least 3 years of Procurement/ Supply Chain and Administration experience
  • At least 2 years in a Manufacturing and FMCG environment
