SUMMARY:
Our client in the telecommunications industry is seeking an experienced, commercially minded and highly analytical Marketplace & E-Commerce Manager to take ownership of
their online marketplace operations, with a primary focus on their Takealot business.
This is a hands-on operational role responsible for driving online revenue growth, managing marketplace performance, ensuring operational excellence, and identifying commercial opportunities to grow the client's online market share. The successful candidate will work closely with Marketing, Warehouse, Finance, Internal Sales, Aftersales and Technical Sales to ensure the successful day-to-day operation of the online marketplace business.

Key Responsibilities
Marketplace Operations
Own the daily operation and commercial performance of the client's Takealot marketplace account.
Ensure compliance with all Takealot marketplace policies, operational requirements and SLA's.
Manage and optimise marketplace performance to maximise online sales and profitability.
Monitor marketplace health, performance metrics and operational efficiency.
Identify opportunities to expand the client's online market share.
Product Listings & Catalogue Management
Manage the complete marketplace listing lifecycle.
Create, maintain and optimise product listings.
Ensure product titles, descriptions, specifications, images and content remain accurate and up to date.
Coordinate Flixmedia content integration across applicable product ranges.
Manage listing quality, catalogue maintenance, product launches and disabled listings.
Identify new products for marketplace listings based on stock availability and product roadmaps.
Pricing, Promotions & Commercial Performance
Develop and implement marketplace pricing strategies.
Conduct competitor price monitoring and market analysis.
Calculate viable pricing structures and promotional opportunities.
Forecast promotional ROI and prepare commercial recommendations.
Coordinate marketplace campaigns, pillar promotions and special offers.
Evaluate promotional performance and implement corrective actions where required.
Marketplace Operations, Inventory & Logistics
Monitor stock availability across online marketplaces.
Forecast stock requirements based on sales trends and marketplace run rates.
Coordinate replenishment planning and back-order management.
Monitor stock coverage, aged inventory and slow-moving products.
Work closely with Warehouse and Procurement to minimise stock shortages and fulfilment delays.
Ensure marketplace labelling, fulfilment and operational processes are maintained to a high standard.
Marketplace Compliance, Returns & Customer Experience
Manage marketplace exceptions, customer escalations and dispute resolution.
Monitor returns, return trends and product performance.
Work closely with the Aftersales and RMA teams to identify recurring product quality issues.
Manage disabled products and marketplace compliance requirements.
Continuously improve the customer shopping experience across all online channels.
Reporting & Commercial Analysis
Produce daily, weekly, bi-weekly, quarterly and ad hoc management reports.
Monitor and analyse marketplace KPIs including:
o Revenue
o GMV (Gross Merchandise Value)
o Conversion Rate
o ROI
o Stock Availability
o Stock Coverage
o Aged Inventory
o SKU Performance
o Product Views
o Wishlisted Products
o Return Rates
o Competitor Pricing
Conduct weekly competitor benchmarking and recommend pricing, advertising and promotional improvements.
Analyse marketplace trends and provide commercially focused recommendations to management.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Marketing on product launches, marketplace content and promotional campaigns.
Coordinate with Warehouse regarding inventory planning, fulfilment and stock replenishment.
Liaise with Finance regarding reporting, reconciliations and marketplace invoicing.
Support Internal Sales, Technical Sales and Aftersales teams to ensure operational excellence across the online sales channel.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum 3–5 years' recent hands-on experience managing a high-volume online marketplace.
Proven experience managing Takealot Seller Portal is essential.
Demonstrated experience with:
o Marketplace listings and catalogue management
o Pricing and promotional planning
o Inventory forecasting and stock replenishment
o Marketplace fulfilment and logistics coordination
o Marketplace compliance and SLA management
o Returns, exceptions and dispute resolution
o Marketplace fees, profitability and commercial reporting

Strong analytical and commercial decision-making ability.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
Highly Advantageous
Experience within the ICT, Networking, Consumer Electronics or Technology Distribution industry.
Experience with Flixmedia content management.
ERP and inventory management systems experience.
Experience managing large product catalogues and high SKU volumes.
Experience working with Takealot advertising and promotional campaigns.
Understanding of networking, Wi-Fi, surveillance, smart home or consumer technology products.
