Experience & Education

• Matric / University Graduate – preferable
• Passed the DC Exam (requirement)
• Registered with the NCR (requirement)
• Experience in the Debt Review processes laid out in the Task Team Agreement (Including DCRS) and NCR published guidelines
• Deep understanding of all credit agreements, Certificates of Balance, Credit Bureau reports, budgeting and spending norms as well as repayment plans and proposals.
• Experience in negotiating with Credit Providers and consumers
• Experience on utilizing a Debt Counselling system (Maximus-advantageous) and proposal preparation
• Clear criminal and credit records
• 6-8 years’ Experience in the Debt Review Industry
• Any previous Banking experience would be beneficial

Main Purpose of this role

• New Business is responsible for the take-on of new debt review applications including the structuring of responsible repayment plans, submission of proposals to Credit Providers and handing the files over to commence with the Legal Preparation of the Court Pack.

• Excellence in this process is critical and in order to achieve the goals in the New Business area the incumbent will need:

• Experience in Managing a large team comprising of Sales, Supervisors, Administrative and Debt Counselling staff which would include on the job training.
• An excellent understanding of the spending behaviour of consumers, types of credit agreements and the ability to identify and accept consumers where a reasonable Debt Review repayment plan can be presented to Credit Providers and the Court.
• The incumbent should have an excellent knowledge of the sections of the NCA pertaining to Debt Review as well as the Task Team Agreement and other NCR published guidelines.
• The ability to drive volumes and productivity and to remain focused on targets, conversion statistics, the various Maximus queues and time frames as set out in the NCA and Task Team Agreement.

• It will also be important to meet regularly with Credit Providers to resolve Debt Review processing issues and compliance with the Task Team Agreement and NCR guidelines.

• In addition to fulfilling the Debt Counselling task the most important task is the formulation of the debt repayment plan for the consumer. It is critical to check starting balances and to select the correct repayment plan. The starting point is always a DCRS repayment plan. This may require negotiations with Credit Providers and Consumers.

• The finalisation of the repayment plan is the key success factor for a successful debt review plan to enable client to repay debt in full.

• It is important for the incumbent to understand that a Debt Review team works for the Consumer and the Credit Providers. This is done with respect, dignity and professionalism.

• To achieve the abovementioned purpose the New Business Team, needs a can-do attitude to find ways to take on new applications and to submit reasonable proposals to Credit Providers.
