Management Accountant

Main Purpose of the Role:
• Provide management with financial, inventory and performance information to support decision-making and to ensure the integrity and level of service within the import (LCT) function

Functional Area:

• Financial Director

• Import Controller/s

Internal Team Interaction: (Information, support, advice): Across organisation: Exchange of information, support, advice.

External Team Interaction:
• Suppliers, service providers, banks, auditors, corporate office: Exchange of information, support, advice, persuasion, negotiation.

Costings – Foreign currency 

• Review forward cover (foreign exchange) requests prepared by the shipping.
• import controller prior to submission to the Financial Director for forward cover booking. 
• Forex transactions are accurate, on time and optimised.

• Review inbound / imported stock costing prior to receipt to ensure accuracy of Freight on Board Shipments (FOB) to ensure that duties, freight and handling charges are correctly and accurately accounted for.
• Discrepancies identified in advance

Controls 

• Preparation of Balance Sheet recons for all Head Office Inventory accounts.
• Warranty Control Reconciliations.
• Preparation and submission of consolidated VAT Return to SARS with
• supporting schedules
• Provide information as requested by internal and external auditors on time and accurate

Reporting – Internal

• Weekly sales reporting preparation of consolidated management accounts and divisional management accounts Income and expense analysis.
• On time and accurate

Supervision

• Ongoing supervision of work conducted by direct report/s to ensure service levels to the business are met and maintained.
• Team members are highly engaged, take accountability and deliver results.

 Ad-Hoc

• Attend to other requests as required by Management
