POSITION INFO:

Short Summary:

The main purpose of this position is to plan, coordinate and oversee activities concerned with maintenance, modifications, and improvement of plant equipment, machinery, and facilities of the manufacturing plants within the SOILL group to ensure optimal efficiency, availability and minimize production downtime.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance
    • Ensure the effective maintenance of the plant by implementing, overseeing, and coordinating a proper preventative mechanical and electrical maintenance plan.
    • Ensure preventative maintenance plan include the upgrade of existing equipment to improve efficiency.
    • Direct and ensure maintenance of buildings and premises.
    • Monitor all work planned for all resource teams.
    • Ensure all work planned are completed
    • Ensure all job cards are captured on DMS and are reported on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
    • Regular communication with workshop store regarding inventory spares requirements and availability.
    • Assist operations regarding technical-related inquiries and service.
    • Responsible for maintenance of all service plants and related equipment.
  • Projects
    • Continuously liaise with the Project Engineer about task allocation to project resource teams, improvements, new projects, and maintenance inventory requirements to ensure cost-effective and timely completion of relevant tasks.
  • Compliance
    • Manage and control maintenance and project expenditures against the approved budget.
    • Monitor hygiene, and ensure master cleaning schedules are performed for responsible areas.
    • Compiling and reviewing policies, procedures, standard operating procedures regarding the maintenance and will be responsible for training and communication up to floor level.
    • Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to and effectively implemented.
    • Establish standards and policies of installation, modification, quality control, testing, operating procedure, inspection, and maintenance of equipment, according to engineering principles and safety regulations.
  • Team Management and Support
    • Manage and technically guide the maintenance and project team continuously.
    • Be responsible for all employees under control regarding timekeeping, disciplinary, performance management, development, and training.
Key Competencies:

Education and Experience
  • National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Appropriate Qualified N3-N6/ T1-T6
  • Millwright Certificate or Mechanical Engineering Technician Qualification
  • Management/ Project Management qualification will be advantageous
  • Minimum 10 years experience in Plant Maintenance in an FCMG Food Processing Plant
  • 5 years experience in a fast-paced project environment
  • Experience in electrical systems including PLC controls
  • Proven experience in MMS system (DMS/Pragma/Onkey)
  • Computer literate – MS Word and Excel
  • Proficient in design programs (AUTOCAD/Solid Works/E-Plan)
  • Sound ability to read and interpret Technical Drawings and Electrical Schematics
  • Experience in HACCP, ISO, FSSC22000
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety relevant to workshop practice
  • Overtime and standby work required, with weekend check-in on the plant is essential

  • Strong Fault-finding skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good understanding of relevant Health and Safety in Factories
  • Ability to understand organizational culture
  • Must be able to read technical/ mechanical drawings
  • Experience in arc, tig, and MiG welding
  • Good interpersonal, negotiation, and networking skills
  • Good understanding and knowledge of mechanical seals
  • Good understanding and knowledge of pump maintenance
  • Good understanding and knowledge of pneumatic systems
  • Good understanding and knowledge of steam components and repairments
  • Basic knowledge in cooling systems and thermodynamic systems
  • Hands-on approach to training and supervision in the plant
