Maintenance Technician

SUMMARY:
Exciting opportunity in Hermanus for qualified and experienced Maintenance Technician

POSITION INFO:

Our client is a dynamic company that farms South African abalone for the Asian market. The company currently has two farms and a processing facility in the Overberg Region.  They currently have a position available within their Maintenance Department for a self-driven and competent Maintenance Technician.

The primary purpose of the position is to ensure that the farm and premises are maintained to the highest standard, by managing the mechanical and electrical aspects of the farm. The incumbent needs to ensure that all mechanical equipment critical for life support are operational and functioning optimally at all times. The Technician will report directly to the Maintenance Manager.

Requirements:

• Fitter trade or relevant N3 technical qualification and a minimum of 3 years work-based experience;
• Technical experience in a manufacturing environment will be advantageous;
• Work experience in repairing and maintaining rotating equipment such as pumps, blowers, gearboxes and screens;
• Experience repairing and maintaining electrical reticulation such as motors, generators, panels and transformers will be advantageous.
• Experience with automated distributed control systems and equipment will be advantageous.
• Management of a small staff complement;
• Good written and oral communication skills, with fluency in English and at ability to communicate in at least one other language
• Excellent planning and organisational skills are imperative;
• Computer literacy and working knowledge of Google suite at intermediate level;
• A valid, unendorsed driver’s license
