Maintenance Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance on:
• Mechanical equipment
• Electrical systems
• Services / utilities
• Buildings and site supplies
• Restore equipment after breakdowns and ensure safe, quality-compliant recovery
• Execute and support preventative planned maintenance to reduce failures and deterioration
• Develop and follow standard maintenance procedures aligned to safety and quality
• Identify critical spares and support spares planning
• Conduct breakdown analysis and root cause investigations
• Implement improvements to reduce breakdown frequency and costs (MTTR / MTBF)
• Maintain job cards, weekly sign-offs and accurate maintenance records
• Coordinate contractors, suppliers and subcontractors when required

Key Performance Areas

• Preventative planned maintenance compliance
• Breakdown cost and breakdown reduction
• Critical spares list management
• Root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Continuous improvement using LUTI (Learn – Use – Teach – Inspect)

Compliance Requirements

• Ensure equipment meets legal, regulated and company standards
• Maintain strict compliance with Food Safety (FSSC) and hygiene requirements
• Follow all Health & Safety policies and participate in ongoing risk assessments

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene regulations
• Experience in maintaining and repairing production machinery
• Ability to work independently, under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable, punctual, committed and a strong team player
• Willingness to learn and take on additional reasonable tasks when required

Working Conditions

• Food manufacturing environment (noisy, hygiene-controlled, safety-critical)
• Shift work may apply, including weekends and nights
• Physically demanding role (standing, lifting, manual repairs)
