Machine Optimization Engineer

POSITION INFO:

Our client, a manufacturing company, is seeking to appoint a Machine Optimization Engineer to be based in the Northern suburbs.

This position is responsible for improving and evaluating existing machines.

Requirements and Experience:

• Mechanical Engineering Degree / qualification.
• Machine design experience essential.
• At least 5 years’ working experience required.
• Maintenance Engineer experience in the manufacturing environment is a huge plus – working experience on breakdowns, determining machine’s drawbacks, and making design changes to improve.
• Mechanical / production / manufacturing exposure.

Key areas of performance:

1. Data analysis and improvement identification:

• Analyse production machine data to identify areas that require improvement.
• Interact with maintenance and production departments on a regular basis to identify potential machine improvement areas.
• Responsible to identify machine improvement areas that will increase machine efficiency, capacity and reduce manufacturing costs.
• Research potential limitations / restrictions within the plant.

2. Concept and solution formulation:

• Responsible to stay up to date with latest industry technology to present innovative machine design improvement concepts.
• Compile technical data, technical analysis, interpretations, and recommendations of engineering practices with relation to all technical findings.
• Responsible for the formulation of concepts and solution strategies to improve overall machine efficiencies and manufacturing costs.
• Compile feasibility studies related to machine optimization concepts and strategies.
• Responsible for prototyping and field testing of concepts and strategies.
• Present technical finding and solutions to technical departments.
• Interact with relevant technical departments throughout the detail development process of strategies / concepts relating to machine optimization.
• Responsible for preliminary work instructions relating to machine operations.

3. Implementation and monitoring:

• Oversee and track implementation of new concepts / processes / strategies to ensure execution.
• Adapt strategies / concepts as required.
• Interact with relevant technical department responsible for the implementation of strategies / concepts and aid where required.

4. Reporting and general administration:

• Report on all technical findings, concepts / strategies, and the execution thereof.
• Responsible for the administration of all technical data and reports relating to machine optimization.
• Responsible for progress reporting on identification, solution formulation and implementation phases of all machine optimization projects.
• Compile impact reports on implemented projects.

Starting date: As soon as possible.

Salary offered: Market related.
