SUMMARY:
Mechanical Engineer (Hydraulics and Compliance) – East Rand

POSITION INFO:

Our client specialises in the manufacturing of construction, mining, and utility equipment

Evaluate all LHD & Truck platforms for functional safety compliance (international) for both BEV, flameproof and Diesel.
Identify and define every standard per model, mechanical, hydraulics, electrical circuits, and controls.
Identify international compliance standards and present them to the design engineering group.
Support new vehicle projects with regulatory compliance evaluation.
Collaborate with third party experts in support of managing vehicle risk assessments for compliance – eliminating conflict of interest.
Take point on internal design risk assessments (FMEAs etc.), working directly with, engineering, aftermarket sales, Quality, EHS and manufacturing engineering.
Research and analyze current processes to design compliance strategy and applicable programs.
Integrate compliance programs and ensure their organization and success.
Train engineering teams on relevant standards and best practices to ensure system designs meet all safety and regulatory compliance requirements.

A minimum of 5+ years with design of mobile mining vehicles or equipment.
Experience with design for safe operation and maintenance of diesel mechanical and/or low and high voltage power used in electric and hybrid vehicles, for ground applications.
Experience in ATEX or ICEX standards
Compliance is beneficial
Fully competent with 3D CAD design, preferably SolidWorks.
Awareness of regulations and industry standards and strong research skills to identify requirements for mining mobile equipment.
Familiarity with the design, control, and incorporation of compliance strategies.
Understanding of Bill of Materials and MRP systems/ ECN / NCR.
Experienced with Microsoft office software and ERP systems.
Experienced with project management methodologies and software.
Proven track record of innovation and problem solving in cross functional teams.
