Medical Receptionist Vacancy:

A vacancy is available for a medical receptionist in a small boutique, well established specialist practice in the Southern suburbs of Cape Town.

Work Hours:

Three and a half days per week

8am – 4pm: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday

8am – 12pm: Friday

Salary and Benefits:

R9500.00 per month (negotiable)

Medical Receptionist Job Responsibilities:

• Serves patients by greeting and helping them, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records and accounts.
• Welcomes patients and visitors in person or on the telephone and answers or refers inquiries.
• Optimizes patients’ satisfaction, provider time by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
• Comforts patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties, answering patients’ questions and maintaining the reception area.
• Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
• Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
• Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information, recording, and collecting patient charges. (knowledge of medical aids and billing essential)
• Maintains business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing, and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies, and scheduling equipment service and repairs, where necessary.
• Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
• Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
• Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.

Medical Receptionist Qualifications / Skills:

• Matric.
• 3 – 5 years in a specialist medical practice with contactable references.
• Strong organizational and administration skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction on given assignments.

Excellent computer skills - Previous experience with Microsoft Office software including MS Word and MS Excel as well as Oribi and email preferred.
