SUMMARY:
Our client in the Automotive Manufacturing Industry is looking for an experienced Logistics Team Lead in Finished Goods to join their team

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Purpose:

 

To provide a constant presence on the shop floor to ensure:

 

  • Parts are correctly stored, packed and loads are prepared and delivered to customers on time in full.
  • Safety of the team.
  • The customer is supplied good quality parts on time.
  • Implementation of Kaizen activities in the process.
  • Company rules and standards are being adhered to.

 

When rules and standards are not adhered to, record the reasons why and report to Group Leader when remedial action needs to take place.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

                                                                                                                  

1. Shift start-up checklist

 

1.1 Complete shift startup checklist (Form no. FO-MA-008).

1.2 Conduct Green Area meeting to a fixed agenda (Form no. FO-MA-009).

1.3 Complete Attendance Register (Form no. FO-HR-034).

1.4 Issue PPE to Team Members and ensure they meet uniform standards (Form no. FO-HR-035).

 

2.  Warehouse Management

 

2.1 Update min/max levels for all stock items on racking and visual

     management boards.

2.2 Expedite low/no stock items from production.

2.3 Enforce the use of fixed addresses for all parts and dunnage.

2.4 Ensure all parts and dunnage are identified correctly with ID label/Kanban.

2.5 Carry out cycle counting as required.

2.6 Ensure FIFO system is followed for all parts.

 

3. Safety and Environment

 

3.1 Ensure Team members are following the Safety Rules.

3.2 Ensure Team members are following the Environmental Policies and

      Procedures.

3.3 Responsible for clearing safety audit findings.

4. Housekeeping

4.1 Ensure Team members are following the housekeeping rules.

4.2 Responsible for clearing housekeeping audit findings.

         

5. Load Preparation

 

5.1. Ensure customers’ orders are packed timeously as per the standard

      picking time.

5.2. Ensure customer’s orders are packed as per customer packing

      Specification.

5.3. Ensure packers sign labels/Kanban validating correct part, correct bin

      and correct label/Kanban.

5.4. Ensure bins are packed onto pallet on one level, labelled and strapped as

      per customer requirement.

5.5. Ensure label/Kanban has been validated with a 2nd signature for correct

      part, correct bin and correct label/Kanban.

5.6 Ensure Team Members are meeting packing times.

5.7 Stand in for Team Members when they are away from their workstation (does not include absenteeism).

5.8 Ensure all dunnage is available to meet packing times.

 

6. Delivery

 

6.1. Ensure that parts loaded onto truck are verified from the manifest and

      Validated.

    

7. Quality Control

 

7.1 Responsible for the quality of parts being packed.

7.2 Conduct routine visual inspection to ensure team members are following packing instructions and part quality is good.

 

8. Escalation policy

 

8.1 Follow the Escalation Policy and Procedure - stop- call- wait (Form no. PR-MA-005).

8.2 Team Leaders have the responsibility to stop production if they feel Safety or Quality standards are not being followed and/or met.

 

 

9. Problem Solving

 

9.1 Responsible for resolving problems identified by Team members.

9.2 Escalate unresolved problems to the Group Leader, together with a summary of action you have taken and potential solutions.

9.3 Be part of a cross functional team, investigating root cause analysis.

 

10. HRD

 

10.1 Responsible for the performance and development of Team members by identifying training needs or any disciplinary action required to correct the behavior of the employee.

10.2 Train new and existing Team Members.

 

11. End of shift checklist

                                                           

11.1 Following end of shift ensure that report (Form no. FO-MA-006) is complete; and ensure that end of shift checklist (Form no. FO-XI-008) is completed.                                                                                                                                  

Qualifications

 

  • Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain or Inventory Control 

 

Experience

 

  • 2 years’ experience in a Manufacturing environment, with preference in automotive

               

Job Requirements

 

  • Trained Team member in the relevant department
  • 5 Why Analysis
  • Knowledge of parts
