Logistics Manager

POSITION INFO:

Our client based in the agriculture industry is looking for an experienced Logistics Manager.

Key performance areas will include:

• Understanding productivity measures and inbound logistics in order to pro-actively plan and manage programs and outbound logistics
• JIT approach to the supply and demand functions in order to manage dwell and costs
• Continuously liaising with all role players to ensure that the warm load, special requests and priority targets are met within shipping opportunities
• Analyze packing instructions from Coordinator and coordinating of packing instruction according to Line setups and market demands
• Ensuring that rejected and/or repacked stock is removed and/or re-entered into system within agreed protocols
• Ensuring adherence to Health and Safety procedures, BRC and HACCP standards and take corrective actions on any deviations
• Effectively managing staff in the logistics department and ensuring compliance with company policies at all times
• Drive skills development of all employees within the Logistics department

Minimum Qualifications:

• Grade 12 or Equivalent Qualification
• A Formal Qualifications in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or equivalent is an added advantage
• Computer literacy – MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)+
• Valid driver’s license with own vehicle

Additional Requirements

• Good Communications skills
• Ability to work accurately and within time pressures
• Problem solving and critical thinking
• Prior experience in a similar position is essential
• Prior experience in the operations of a Packhouse is advantageous
• Sound knowledge of HR Practices
• Previous ISO 9000 experience an added advantage
• Ability to manage a team of people and equipment over 2 shifts
