SUMMARY:
This position is for a new game reserve based in Umfolozi Valley KZN, between Ulundi and Vryheid.

POSITION INFO:

Responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of Lodges. To provide leadership to staff, maintain lodge facilities and provide a level of hospitality, ensuring that guests receive the amenities and services which

meets the Game Reserve expectations.

Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Hospitality or equivalent

5-7 years’ experience in a hotel, bush lodge managerial role

Understanding of housekeeping and maintenance procedures

An awareness of developments within the food and lodge industries

Experience working in a 4* or 5* resort a huge advantage

The Lodge currently does not offer staff meals but this may be offered in the future.

There is a 3 weeks on and 1 week off cycle.

The smooth running of the lodge, from the facilities to the human resources.
Purchasing/Ordering of utilities within the lodge/ for lodge operations.
- Provide a welcoming lodge environment for our guests with high standards of service, meals and housekeeping which meet the company’s expectations.
- Monitor and maintain hospitality service, maintenance, gardening and housekeeping standards within the lodge.
- Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping and maintenance and ensure that style and design is not eroded.
- Manage all staff reporting to the position to effectively assist, train, develop, motivate and monitor activities. This includes the effective recruitment and disciplining of staff.
- Maintain a safe, harmonious, enjoyable workplace environment for staff.
- Communicate and report to senior management on a regular basis in line with company requirements.
- Produce and maintain staff duty rosters which always provide flexible and effective staffing for the Lodge, day and night, throughout the year.
- Run the lodge in a cost-effective manner, within the agreed budget; in a manner which is conducive to positive inter-personal relationships between staff; and at a superior level of efficiency.
- Effective financial management through the administration of orders and effective stock control.
