SUMMARY:
We currently have a temporary position available for a Local Buyer (Mining Industry) 6 month Fixed term contract

POSITION INFO:

Position Role:

Purchase the right commodities at the right time and at competitive prices by ensuring 95% availability of all spares and services to the end-users and to support the contract specialist in terms of creating contracts with suppliers.

 Core Duties

Goods Purchasing

  1. Ensure that all information on orders, enquiries and tenders are accurate to eliminate price differences and that price comparisons are done according to policy.
  2. Expedite all late and short orders on a continuous basis to ensure on time deliveries.
  3. Confirm that all orders are placed according to official supplier list and vendor numbers.
  4. Verify all invoices in terms of price differences, purchasing units, tax indicators and supply units from suppliers and signatures of end-users.
  5. Ensure that savings are achieved and generated by set guidelines.

Contracts Support

  1. Monitor contract prices continuously to ensure that best prices are achieved.
  2. Database is updated to accommodate changes in supplier information.
  3. Make recommendations to capture continuous purchases of the same commodity into a contract.
  4. Make recommendations for new commodities to be included in existing contracts when applicable in order to ensure availability of spares at all times.
  5. Support the contract specialist when requested.

Reporting

  1. Report procurement events and activities punctually.
  2. Report important events to the relevant role players to keep them informed.       
  3. Ensure that all communication is effective and done verbally and electronically.
  4. Make reports available as required.
  5. Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times where applicable.

Query Resolution

  1. Investigate and address all queries and complaints in the agreed upon time frames.
  2. Provide feedback on a continuous basis to keep key receivers informed.
  3. Follow up important feedback in writing.
  4. Ensure that other personnel are co-opted to assist with problem solving to ensure customer satisfaction.
  5. Initiate pro-active actions to prevent a repetition of the problem.

People Supervision     

  1. Plan, organise, lead and control subordinate''s activities to ensure objectives are met or exceeded.
  2. Assure stable employee relations by managing conflict and creating a positive working environment. 

Change Transformation and Process Optimisation

  1. Identify and recommend initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, improving productivity and reduce operating costs within scope and assist with the implementation thereof to contribute to the achievement of operational objectives.
  2. Support and participate in change management initiatives to drive transformation and optimisation.

Stakeholder Relations

  1. Build, support and maintain healthy diverse internal and external relations and implement remedial actions where required.
  2. Provide relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved.

Safety, Health, Environment and Risk

  1. Adhere to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and report non-compliance.
  2. Participate in regular safety meetings and make recommendations to ensure overall safety.
  3. Perform regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free and recommend remedial action where necessary.
