Linux Engineer (mid-level)

This position is aimed at someone with Linux skills with a desire to expand their knowledge and apply their creative nature to problem-solving.

We will consider candidates with no security experience but would like to find someone who is passionate or interested in cybersecurity over and above working as a Linux Engineer.
The successful candidate will meet most of these requirements:
• Minimum 2 years Linux experience ESSENTIAL
• Experience with configuration management
• Have some experience with a scripting language, (bash or python, etc).
• Have a good understanding of networking protocols and common services such as HTTP(s), DNS etc.
• Be attentive to details
• Pro-active team member
• Eager to learn
• Have excellent troubleshooting skills and experience, both on network and application levels
• Have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, particularly via email
• Willingness to work in a team environment to improve efficiencies and solve problems as a team
Beneficial Skills:
· SIEM and Monitoring Systems
· Experience Networking and routers/switches
· Some knowledge of cloud services/infrastructure such as AWS or Azure will be beneficial
· Experience with CI/CD pipelines & other DevOps concepts/technologies will be beneficial
· Having knowledge of the ELK stack will be highly beneficial
· Have a passion for, or desire to learn or work in the cybersecurity field
· Familiar with Windows Server and Desktop OS''s, in enterprise environments advantageous
· Experience working with Syslog and other logs in general, will be beneficial
· Knowledge of Puppet, Docker, Github;
· Experience with API integrations of different platforms/solutions
· Have a broad understanding of IT systems in general. Any specialisations will be beneficial but a shallow but broad understanding would be ideal
· Qualifications in any of the following areas would be beneficial, however we are after experience and someone that is proactively upskilling themselves:
Linux / Networking / Sys Admin / Python / Bash
What you will be doing:
Work with team members to manage Linux servers in clients’ environments and in the private cloud
Work with DevOps to help automated systems, streamline deployments and improve efficiencies
Deploy Linux servers to clients'' environments using defined processes
Working with log files from different systems
Work with the MDR team to brainstorm new ideas and assist in making these ideas become reality
