SUMMARY:
Job Purpose:
The main purpose of this position is to provide effective management of client services in EL library.

POSITION INFO:

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Manage and co-ordinate the operations and administration of the Lending Services units.
• Oversee the daily operations and personnel management of the circulation section, reserves, and collection access.
• Co-ordinates the functionality of the Circulation Services. Train staff on circulation modules
• Managing the user services section with responsibility for staff resources, services, and systems.
• Supervise subordinates at the Circulation desk.
• Oversee the check-out process for books and other resource materials.
• Plans and compiles rosters for circulation staff.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of the library collections, including collection analysis.
• Oversee all circulation-related functions, including inter-branch loans and recalls. Primary contact for responding to users regarding fines and billing.
• Ensure marketing and promotion of  library resources
• Manage the Libraries’ physical space and facilities to ascertain that it is conducive for learning and research.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies for the Circulation Services.

 The incumbent will be responsible for:

• Management of the Circulation Services
• Collection development and maintenance
• Human Resources Management
• Good Image and visibility of UFH Libraries
• Marketing and promotion of library services

Key Competencies

• Knowledge and understanding of circulation services, including current trends in an academic library setting
• Excellent  knowledge of collection analysis (stocktaking)
• Sound knowledge of the academic libraries
• Sound knowledge and understanding of Library systems eg. Sierra
• Experience and understanding of marketing and promoting library services in a university environment

 Requirements:

• A degree in Library and Information Science 
• Conversance with Sierra and related III systems

Experience (minimum)

• 3+ Relevant Experience in Academic Libraries

NB: The position may require a person to work shifts and weekends where necessary.
