CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

* To facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and skills by undergraduate pharmacy students in order for them to function effectively within the field of Pharmacy * to develop and facilitate the acquisition of research knowledge and skills amongst undergraduate B. Pharm and postgraduate students and to conduct and lead research in the department *

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  1. Facilitate teaching and learning in the area of Pharmacy Practice and Primary Health Care
  2. Development of curricula, learning material and short learning programmes in the areas of Pharmacy Practice
  3. Participate in academic engagement with Pharmacy stakeholders in the areas of Pharmacy Practice and Primary Health Care
  4. Conducting and publishing research in the areas of Pharmacy Practice and Primary Health Care
  5. Develop and conduct short learning programmes and/or Continuing Professional Development activities on behalf of the Department of Pharmacy
  6. Facilitate the application for and administration of teaching and/or research grants
  7. Fulfil other duties pertaining to the organisation and administration of the Pharmacy Department

CORE COMPETENCIES

1.   An in-depth knowledge of the theory and application of Pharmacy Practice

2.   Experience in the facilitation of teaching and learning as well as development of curricula and learning material, in the areas of Pharmacy Practice

3.   Experience in the creation of knowledge through the successful teaching and supervision of under- and postgraduate Pharmacy students

4.   Proven track record in participation in Pharmacy profession/stakeholder liaison and networking

5.   Experience in the implementation of blended learning technologies

6.   Experience in research and have publications in relevant accredited and peer-reviewed journals

5.   Sound organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure

6.   Excellent computer skills in the MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

Lecturer qualification requirement is a Master''s degree (M. Pharm)

Registration

Must be registered with the SAPC as a Pharmacist

Experience

Two years'' relevant lecturing experience in Pharmacy at university level

At least two years'' related Pharmacy work experience after completion of Community Service

Preference will be given to candidates with specific expert knowledge and experience of Pharmacy Practice in a Primary Health Care setting or Public Sector environment.
