CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The purpose of the post is to facilitate and administer the learning process for students in modules as presented by the Nelson Mandela University Nursing Science Department at under- and post-graduate level, to participate in research, to contribute to the academic and community engagement as well as being involved in the core functions of the university.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  1. Sound knowledge of the theory and application in relevant disciplines in Nursing Science
  2. Experience in facilitation of teaching and learning activities and practices at under- and post-graduate academic and clinical programmes
  3. Contribute to curriculum development and implementation at under- and post-graduate level
  4. Contribute to research within Nursing Science
  5. Create knowledge through research and publications
  6. Establish a national reputation in own field of expertise through collaboration, consultation and involvement in policy processes or projects

CORE COMPETENCIES

 
  1. Application of diverse teaching and learning methodologies for under- and post-graduate programmes
  2. Experience in facilitation of teaching and learning at under- and post-graduate levels
  3. Knowledge of research theory and applications in Nursing Science
  4. Knowledge of curriculum development and implementation at under- and post-graduate levels
  5. Supervising and co-supervising post-graduate research candidates (Bachelor or Honours projects)
  6. Contribute to the development and implementation of short learning programmes or other Continuous Development Programmes
  7. Contribute to seminars and/or other research outputs

REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

Master’s degree in Nursing Science

Registration

Registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse

Registration with SANC as a Nurse Educator or evidence of application to be registered with SANC as nurse educator

Registration with SANC as an Assessor/Moderator or evidence of application to be registered with SANC as an assessor/moderator

Experience and skills

Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience

Two years’ clinical work experience

Evidence of research supervision is required

Evidence of research publications to be provided
