JOB DESCRIPTION:

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

To facilitate and administer the learning process for students in modules presented by the NMU at undergraduate and post graduate level, to do research, contribute to community engagement and to be involved in the core functions of the University.

 

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • ·       Facilitate the learning processes and outcomes of the Department of Mechatronics
  • ·       Assume responsibility for development of course materials, lectures, tutorials and assessment of modules
  • ·       Conduct, supervise and publish research.
  • ·       Perform academic engagement.
  • Perform curriculum and course administration.

CORE COMPETENCIES

 

  • ·       In depth knowledge of the theory and application in the relevant disciplines related to Mechatronics.
  • ·       Ability to facilitate learning at undergraduate level and potential to contribute at postgraduate level. Proven academic experience in tertiary teaching of at least two years
  • ·       Ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • ·       Have contributed or have the potential to contribute to the creation of knowledge by virtue of published research and involvement in relevant engagement activities. Proven ability to establish research setups and solve complex problems.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • BEng or BSc in Engineering (Mechatronics) with five years of industrial experience or two years of full-time tertiary experience.
  • Or MEng & MSc in Engineering (Mechatronics) with two years of full-time tertiary experience. PhD will be an advantage.
  • Candidates with BEng or BSc in Engineering must have been in possession of ECSA professional registration during their years of industrial experience
  • Candidates with MEng or MSc in Engineering must be eligible for Professional registration with ECSA within one year from the date of commencement of duty.
