POSITION INFO:

 

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

 

To facilitate the learning process for Honours students intending to become professional construction health and safety practitioners in terms of the subjects Construction Health and Safety Management 4,

Construction Environmental Management 4, Construction Risk Management 4, and Design Management 4. In addition, you will be expected to supervise Construction Health and Safety Management Treatise 4 research studies, and Masters Construction Health and Safety-related research studies.

 

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

 

  • Facilitate learning
  • Provide support and guidance to Honours students
  • Perform administration as well as other academic related functions
  • Take responsibility for identified academic modules in the BSc (Honours) (Construction Health and Safety Management) programme
  • Undertake subject development
  • Supervise research studies at Honours, Masters and PhD level
  • Conduct research and publish on Health and Safety Management

 

CORE COMPETENCIES

 

 

  • A sound knowledge of construction health and safety management across the six stages of projects;
  • Experience in construction health and safety management;
  • Strong skills in working with students, communication, construction health and safety management, modern construction and related activities, and a pro-active nature relative to students, academia, industry and professional association liaison and development;
  • Research and publishing skills;
  • Research supervision skills.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

 

In order to be considered for appointment to this position, preference will be given to candidates who have:

  • A construction health and safety-related MSc with relevant academic experience;
  • Membership of the Association of Construction Health and Safety Management or a similar member body;
  • Registration with the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) or a similar registration organisation for Health and Safety;
  • A minimum of 2 years construction health and safety experience.
