SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for a Lead Investment Banker to join their team.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The role will require working on both transactions in South Africa and in the rest of Africa.

Specific responsibilities include:
1. Identifying new clients;
2. Preparation of pitches, case studies and similar materials for business development;
3. Screening new clients for new mandates;
4. Negotiating new mandates;
5. Executing financial analysis;
6. Preparation of information memos, teasers and other deal collaterals;
7. Negotiation of transactions on behalf of clients, and work with legal counsel on related documents;
8. Project management of transactions from cradle to grave;
9. Maintain relationships with repeat clients including private equity investors;
10. Work with other members of the firm responsible for adjacent product areas;
11. Contribute to firm wide and thematic marketing initiatives;
12. Training and mentoring of less senior staff.

The role represents a senior role in the Firm as a whole and the successful candidate will be expected to perform a role in broader business development and other strategic initiatives. Execution of this role will encompass working closely with the firm’s regional offices outside South Africa.

Key Skills
1. Strong technical skills, including financial analysis or transaction structuring;
2. Ability to network with prospective clients and investors, and develop business for the firm;
3. The candidate must be an excellent team player and committed to working closely with other members of the senior team as well as developing the junior talent at the firm.

Qualifications

Must have 10 years’ experience.
The candidate’s experience will include significant experience at an investment bank, but may in addition include experience in private equity, transaction services, or relevant experience working in a corporate.
