SUMMARY:

One of South Africa's Banking Giants is looking for a Lead Decision Scientist in the Credit space to perform analyses and develop analytical models to translate active business data into usable strategic information.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Purpose Statement:

To lead and oversee Decision Scientists within the Credit Decision Science function responsible for:
- Performing analyses and developing analytical models to translate active business data into usable strategic information.
- Quantifying benefits associated with credit solutions.
- Informing the business on any critical and measurable credit risk indicators
- Enabling the Credit function to make data-led decisions.
- To take responsibility for supporting an allocated workstream and all its associated projects within the Credit function.

Delivery of strategic credit decision management models
Quantifying business problems and solutions
People leadership
Industry knowledge and best practice
Reporting
Stakeholder management

Qualifications:
Honours Degree in Mathematics / Statistics or Masters Degree in Mathematics or Statistics.

Minimum Knowledge

Data analytics
Project management methodologies and IT implementation cycle
Technical understanding and knowledge of different front and back-end operating systems / databases and programming languages
General business acumen to identify the impact technical issues may have on design and delivery of solutions.
Best practices and tools in data analysis
Credit environment / industry
Interpretation of user requirements and translation into business requirements specifications
People leadership
Relevant legislation (for example, NCA)
Predictive Modelling and Machine Learning

Minimum Experience

5 - 7 years credit risk analytics environment experience
2 years leadership experience
Extraction and aggregation of data from large relational databases
Data mining and predictive modelling

Ideal Knowledge

Risk Management principles
Business Banking processes and principles

Ideal Experience

7+ years credit risk analytics experience
Business banking experience
Relationship and stakeholder management

Skills:

Report writing and presentation skills
Financial and business acumen
Programming skill (SQL, R, Python)
