Lead Analytics (AA/EE) - CAPE TOWN

SUMMARY:
Strong commercial acumen in Retail with the ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams. Highly capable of working with large and complex data sets using appropriate tools. MySQL, Big Query, Knime, Excel, Google Sheets, Python, R, and QlikSense are examples of the tools we use regularly however the list is ever-growing to meet the demands of the business.

POSITION INFO:

Must be a systems thinker with the ability to understand and break down complex problems and relationships with at least 3 years of experience managing a team

Key responsibilities will include:

• Applying analytical tools and capabilities with the sole aim of delivering significant and measurable business results. 
• Lead the Merchant Analytics team consisting out of Data Analysts, Business Intelligence Analysts, and Data Scientists responsible for surfacing data-driven insights and opportunities for the wider Merchant team (Retail Buying, Marketplace Sellers, Merchandising and Promotions as well as Merchant Operations)
• Partner with business leaders to understand strategic challenges, collaborate with business leaders to identify and prioritize the highest impact analytics and data initiatives. 
• Establish and maintain senior management scorecards that are simple and impactful.  
• Your team will, proactively and reactively, provide strategic, operational, customer, category, and demand analysis to frame Merchant teams’ decisions and deliver insights to deliver measurable business impact. 
• Excel in cross-functional project management, project lead the integration of various third-party applications from start to finish whilst establishing and nurturing relationships with external partners. 
• Serve as the central point of contact and aggregation for quarterly business reviews, monthly planning, strategic/tactical business plans as well as owning the annual Revenue budgeting process across the Merchant team. 
• Develop in-depth knowledge of all relevant internal and external data sources, research the latest application of business intelligence technologies, data science techniques, and analytical tools in order to deliver business insights and value.
• Be able to deal with ambiguity in order to decipher complex problems, select an ideal solution from a wide array of analytic techniques and concepts, and translate into actionable requirements for your team.
• Have the ability to collaborate, work cross-functionally and communicate effectively across multiple Merchant functions as well as with the wider business. 
• Build and drive a vision, strategy, and identity for the Merchant Analytics team and each of its main functions set the team’s objectives to support the Merchant teams’ objectives.
