The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for the following responsibilities, among others:
Responsibilities and job description
• Assist with laboratory synthesis of alkyd, polyester, and other polymer resins
• Perform analytical tests such as acid value, hydroxyl value, viscosity, and solids
determination
• Prepare and monitor small-scale resin batches
• Record experimental results and maintain laboratory documentation
• Assist with evaluation of raw materials and resin performance
• Support troubleshooting and product improvement projects
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper calibration
• Follow laboratory safety procedures and ISO quality system requirements

2. Requirements for the position
Candidates are required to meet the following criteria to be considered for this role:
2.1 Compulsory (inherent) requirements
- South African citizen with valid South African ID
- Diploma or Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or Chemical Engineering
- Minumum 3 years laboratory experience (polymer or coatings industry advantageous)
- Understanding of basic polymer chemistry and analytical test methods
- Strong attention to detail and good record-keeping practices
- Ability to work independently and within a technical team
