SUMMARY:

A well-established manufacturer of plant nutrition products is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support production and R&D with product formulations, quality control (QC) and safety, ensuring the legal conformity of activities and that product registrations are aligned with the Technical Manager with regards to the business strategy of the company.

JOB DESCRIPTION:


Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Must have a BSc/Btech Degree in Chemistry
  • Minimum 2 years’ working/researching experience in the chemistry and/or agriculture industry will be required
  • Proven experience in a QC Laboratory within a production is important
  • Must have some knowledge of local legislation and legal procedures of Official Bodies
  • Must be able to show technical support to field salespeople and develop a good rapport with customer base
  • MS Office advanced skills (mainly Power Point and Excel) are important
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Planning, organising and managing experiments regarding new and improved product formulations.
  • Executing product stability and product compatibility experiments.
  • Implementing and controlling the Quality Control Manual.
  • Creating the tank mixability laboratory and providing the database for the field team.
  • Suggesting any improvements on formulations, processes and products or new research lines.
  • Providing technical support for the launch of new products, new lines, processes, etc.
  • Assisting with customer complaints - troubleshooting with technical expertise.
  • Maintaining regular and active product and company records, both in SA and in other countries administered directly by the company.
  • Following and advising on possible demands arising from Official Bodies inspections, whether in the company, in the distribution channels or in rural properties, as well as from advertising materials.
  • Checking labels and product profiles of fertilizers, and to comply with local legislation and marketing the product.
  • Assisting in compliance with inspections and requirements of bio-stimulant fertilizers, supporting with the necessary information.
  • Supporting customer, as well as internal Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental audits.
Salary package is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
