Laboratory Assistant

SUMMARY:
We are looking for an IT Laboratory Assistant (Only for people with disabilities)

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements:

• National Diploma Information Technology or Diploma ICT or equivalent
• A+ and N+ certification will be advantageous

Required skills:

Knowledge of hardware and software

Additional Recommendations:

• Experience with students at a tertiary
• Previous years of experience in a similar role will be advantageous

Summary of Duties:

• Assume overall responsibility for the effective running of the designated lab as directed by the Head of Department

• Maintain a fully functional lab to enable effective teaching/learning in a disciplined and effective environment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve all hardware/software issues and escalate unresolved issues to the Senior Technician.

• Install application software and hardware as required by the academic program and departmental needs
• Report and document all lab maintenance and damage issues to the Senior Technician
• Conduct a regular check of all equipment in the lab to ensure they are in good working order
• Maintain stock control of all lab equipment - document an accurate and up to date asset registers
• Maintain the audio/visual equipment in lecture venues
• Salvage all working components from PCs identified for disposal

• Ensure security and access to the lab is maintained and controlled
• Unpack, configure, and image desktop computers in the lab
• Image designated lab PCs before each test and exam session
• Provide support to the Information Technology department staff
• Undertake department duties as and when required by the department
