SUMMARY:
A leading Waste Management Company is seeking the services of a Lab Technician for its operations In Delmas Mpumalanga.
POSITION INFO:
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Laboratory Technician primarily responsible for safe handling, testing, analysis of waste samples to ensure they are aligned with the correct waste type specific for Landfill disposal and Effluent Treatment Plant.
RESPONSIBILITES RELATING TO KEY PERFORMANCE AREA
- Ensuring that all laboratory operations and procedures are in compliance with safety protocols and regulations to minimise the risk od accidents, injuries, and exposure to hazardous materials.
- Proactively maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring that all equipment is working correctly, replaced, or updated when necessary to meet testing requirements.
- Accurately conducting analytical test, analyse results, and report then on time and with high precision.
- Ensuring that all data is recorded comprehensively, accurately, and legibly to support test results.
- Effectively managing workload to maximise productivity and utilisation of laboratory capacity.
- Managing project deadline and delivering results and analysis within agreed-upon timelines.
- Maintaining an inventory of chemicals and other material in an efficient and cost-effective manner to minimise waste and cost overruns.
- Identify opportunities to improve laboratory processes, workflows, and efficiency through the implementation of best practices and innovative methodologies.
- Provide operational support to the plant operators, troubleshooting process issues and collaborate with other department to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Participate in research and development projects as required by management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Analytical chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Environmental science
- 3 - 5 years’ experience working in a laboratory environment
- GCMS experience required
- Experience in waste management
- Residing in the Delmas Region [ Advantages ]
- ISO/IEC 17025 [ Advantages ]
