LIFT MECHANIC

SUMMARY:
LIFT MECHANIC (MUST BE TRADE TESTED) (Cape Town Central) R21,000 - R27,000 PM

POSITION INFO:

Established Lift Company who specialise in building service contracts, upgrades, refurbishments and new lift installations seeks a Red Seal Lift Mechanic. You will be expected to install, refurbish, service and repair electrical and hydraulic lifts.  Carry out routine checks on gears, motors, overload detection devices, brakes, doors and locks. Make minor repairs or isolating problems until a repair can be carried out. Respond to emergency breakdown callouts. Install and upgrade/modify lifts, lifting gear and controls. Refurbish or replace lift interiors, flooring, panel displays, communication systems, buttons and lighting. Update written and computerised work records. Analyse breakdown trends to identify recurring defects in equipment. Inspect and service lift equipment to make sure that it meets relevant health and safety regulations.

Must have qualifications and experience in lift/elevator trades.

You would normally work 40 hours a week, but you may have to work overtime when required.

You will be expected to roll up your sleeves and do heavy lifting.

The job could be oily and dirty, and you are likely to work in confined, even badly lit spaces, particularly on older systems.

You would be required to be on standby in cycles of at least one week per month.

Experience with Electrical and/or mechanical work.  

Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills.

Read and understand engineering drawings and principles.

The ability to work without close supervision. Familiarity with CAD packages if involved in design work (advantageous).

A solid awareness of industry guidelines on health and safety.
