A well-established private practice in Bellville, Cape Town, is seeking a skilled and independent Level II/III Obstetric Sonographer to join their team. This role is suited to a highly competent professional who can perform advanced obstetric ultrasound examinations, compile detailed reports, and provide patient-centred care in a compassionate and professional environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting specialised obstetric scans, integrating screening data, and delivering accurate, high-quality reporting while working both independently and collaboratively with referring practitioners.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform Level II/III obstetric ultrasound examinations, including detailed fetal anatomical assessments and growth scans
Conduct first-trimester screening in line with Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) guidelines (NT, nasal bone, ductus venosus, and tricuspid flow)
Perform uterine artery Doppler assessments according to FMF standards
Verify patient demographics and relevant clinical information before examinations
Review and integrate maternal history, biochemistry, and prenatal screening data using Astraia software
Compile clear, accurate, and clinically relevant reports
Provide appropriate patient counselling regarding findings, results, and follow-up recommendations
Work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with referring practitioners
Requirements:
FMF certification in first-trimester screening (all required markers)
Certification in uterine artery Doppler assessment (FMF or equivalent)
Current registration with the HPCSA
Active membership with SASUOG
Active membership with ISUOG
Valid indemnity insurance suitable for private practice
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently with a high level of accountability
