POSITION INFO:

 

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

 

 

Is to create, develop and facilitate the acquisition of musical knowledge and skills by individuals in order that they can function effectively within the music profession and as productive members of the broader society.

 

 

 

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

 

 

  • To teach in the specialist area of Music Technology, inclusive of, acoustic theory, psychoacoustic theory, audio engineering, multimedia technologies, recording and production, programming, methodology of technology, technology in teaching, and sound and interaction design.   
  • To manage the Music Technology studios and equipment.   
  • To utilize subject-related research methods.
  • To facilitate the learning and teaching in the department.
  • To conduct and publish research or produce appropriate performances and creative outputs.
  • To perform academic and music engagement.
  • To perform administration.

 

 

CORE COMPETENCIES

 

 

  • In-depth knowledge of Music Technology and the application of Music Technology in learning and teaching.
  • Extensive experience at facilitating learning at undergraduate and some experience at postgraduate level.
  • Has preferably contributed to the creation of knowledge and music performance or has the potential to contribute by virtue of publications or appropriate creative outputs, and the ability to supervise postgraduate candidates.
  • Proficiency in maintaining and managing Music Technology studios and equipment.   

 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

 

In order to be considered for appointment to this post, candidates should have a specialism in Music Technology and /or industry related experience in the field of Music Technology, with a master’s degree and supervision experience. If shortlisted, candidates will be expected to teach a demonstration lesson as part of an interview.
