SUMMARY:
Knitting Manager
POSITION INFO:
The main purpose of this position is to manage and oversee the overall Knitting production division
RESPONSIBLITIES
• Plan, implement and control work flow and quality changes in the Knitting Department;
• Review and adjust flow where needed;
• Set and ensure conformance to quality standards;
• Monitor quality standards of products;
• Liaise with all role players on a daily basis;
• Compile and maintain annual manufacturing expense budget;
• Implement cost control programs;
• Prepare and maintain accurate daily, weekly and monthly reports;
• Direct research and development programs;
• Determine and advise Human Resources on resources required;
• Determine the material resources required, source and liaise with suppliers;
• Manage human and material resources to meet production targets;
• Make decisions about equipment use, maintenance, modification and procurement;
• Work out, implement and maintain standard operating procedures for production
operations;
• Ensure that standard operating procedures are adhered to; and implement new SOPS
where deemed necessary;
• Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures;
• Implement and enforce quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives;
• Analyse production and quality control to detect and correct problems;
• Determine and implement improvements to the production process;
• Monitor and review the performance of staff and organise necessary interventions for
improvements;
• Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments including
procurement, distribution and management;
• Co-ordinate internal and external stock;
• Initiate and oversee projects;
• Control and direct production meetings;
• Identify training requirements in the Department;
• Responsible for a 24/7 production process;
• Ensure fair and consistent discipline in the Department is maintained.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• National Senior Certificate;
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a Textile production/manufacturing
environment;
• Qualification in Operations or Production Management will be advantageous;
• Good knowledge of 5’s and Kaizen/lean manufacturing principles;
• Computer software skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook;
