SUMMARY:
Junior Technician: Slurry Pumping System Design

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The candidate we are looking for must have experience in designing slurry pumping systems and must have had exposure to the Weir Minerals Pump selection software, generally used as a tool in pumping systems designs.

GRADE 12 (Technical School)

Mechanical Engineering Course will be an advantage

TRAINING : Weir Pump Selection Software

Visiting new upcoming sites together with the internal technical team to gather information required for the pumping system design.
Attending meetings with the client’s and provide technical assistance to our Operational teams onsite.
Conducting technical calculations to verify pipeline pressures and then applying and setting required velocities
Selecting electric motors and drives.
Compiling a BOQ (Bill of Quantities) of all items required for the pumping system.
Ensuring equipment selected is fit for purpose.
Assisting with costing of the selected equipment.
Attending site visits and assisting with unblocking operational bottlenecks.
Working with engineering team in compiling drawings
Ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols and legislation as it applies in the industry
Mitigating risks associated with slurry pumping and mining work

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Slurry pump system designs.
Strong computer knowledge of Excel and Word (BOQ’s need to be generated and compiled)
Weir Minerals Slurry Pump Selection Software (would be an advantage)
Basic financial skills (prepare costings).
