Job Description:

Consulting Engineering firm that handles “world-class rebuild optimization projects” is growing their support team and requires a Junior Scheduler to support their Project Controls Team for multiple (small to medium-sized projects). This is a highly pressurized and challenging environment for a demanding and professional client that only expects excellence. You will be based at the client’s site in Rustenburg or Polokwane and at other times work remotely from home.

Position details:

Type: Contract (potential to go permanent)
Primary purpose: The scheduler takes accountability for the awareness, understanding and performance of all related project schedule management and control functionality, to ensure all project related work and resource allocations are done in-line with Client governance.
Travel requirements: Periodic travel to site – must have own transport.
Job description / core competencies:

The Scheduler is responsible to the Team Leader for team schedule capability and performance matters, and to the Client Project Manager in his planning function, for project schedule management and performance, taking accountability for:

  • Development of the Work Breakdown Structure and overall schedule plan including Basis of Schedule.
  • Development and updates to the Master Schedule incl. maintaining the Project Life Cycle and alignment of all participants including Contractor Schedules and provide the Project Team with weekly updates as well as a 2 week horizon.
  • Integration with the Cost Engineer and their Cost Management Plan.
  • Monitoring all associated detailed schedules, providing accurate reports on progress, variance to plan, root causes and remedial actions.
  • Monitoring the greater environment to identify potential risks to the schedule.

Job Qualification & Experience:

  • Minimum 2 to 5 years’ experience.
  • NFQ 4 – 6 or equivalent (Supervisory level).
  • Multi discipline experience in engineering and construction.
  • Ideal experience in planning, scheduling with shut-down projects.
