Junior Quantity Surveyor

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Qualifications required:
B.Tech or B.Sc Quantity Surveying

Experience required:
1 or 2 years experience with Government Building projects

Only open for BEE Applications

Duties:
  • Preparing cost reports and analysis, budgeting and managing cash-flow
  • Resolving contractual and commercial issues on site
  • Compiling interim payment certificates
  • Ensuring that all stakeholders understand and adhere to contractual obligations
  • Communicating regularly with project team and subcontractors to ensure commercial control system and procedures are in place, understood and followed at all times
  • Assisting Senior QS with Pre-Planning and forecasting
  • Facilitation and coordination of subcontractor tender briefings
  • Preparing subcontractors tender packages
  • Evaluation and adjudication of all subcontractor tenders
  • Appointment and preparing subcontract documents
  • Coordination, administration and management of all subcontractors
  • Compiling subcontractor payments certificates
  • Daily measurements and tracking of work done on site
  • Daily, weekly and monthly liaison with Resident Engineer and assistants with site measurements and valuation
  • Quantity take-off from drawings
  • Final account
  • Monitor work progress against the programme through weekly production and cost meetings with all the relevant staff members
  • Assisting with monitoring production and allowable targets, initiating corrective action where these are not being met, in conjunction with the Senior Site Agent
  • Assisting in ensuring adherence to all Health and Safety Procedures
  • Daily traffic accommodation reports submissions
  • Daily, weekly and monthly costing
  • Assisting Site Agent with pricing of variation orders
  • Assisting Site Agent with Daily Diaries
  • Materials, plant and diesel reconciliation and costs
