We are seeking a Junior Chemical OR Mechanical Engineer for the Pretoria East area!

POSITION INFO:
Role Summary

We seek an enthusiastic Junior Chemical Engineer OR Mechanical to support the development, delivery, and refinement of sustainable water system designs. This entry-level role contributes to efficient water use and environmental responsibility, aligned with
#SurplusWater2025. Under senior guidance, you'll collaborate on projects, learn innovative technologies, and grow toward professional registration.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support Sustainable Water Management Design Solutions

Assist in creating cost-effective, compliant wet servicesÂ designs meeting client needs, SANS standards (e.g., SANS 10252-1, SANS 241, SANS10400), municipal by-laws, and environmental regulations
Collaborate on contracts, drawings, bills of quantities, and software like Autodesk Revit and Inventor for coordinated outcomes
Help with hydraulic calculations and system sizing to optimize efficiency
Learn about sustainable water technologies and practices

2. Contribute to Project Excellence and Client Value

Support projects to meet schedules and budgets, helping exceed client expectations and build the company's reputation
Maintain communication with stakeholders (Company, clients, team)
Assist in identifying issues early via planning, risk management, and problem-solving
Aid in documentation and compliance per ISO procedures
Meet assigned timelines under supervision

3. Progress Toward Professional Engineering Registration

Work toward ECSA registration, building technical and leadership skills
Prepare ECSA documents and track CPD activities
Use projects to develop management and decision-making abilities
Join networks like ECSA and AEE

4. Explore Innovation in Water-Saving Technologies

Research and benchmark water reuse and conservation technologies under guidance
Assist in piloting designs on small projects with measurable outcomes
Learn AI for project management and data analysis
Help review systems and recommend sustainable practices for efficiency

Qualifications and Experience
â Bachelorâs degree in Chemical OR Mechanical EngineeringÂ
â 0-2 years of experience; internships in water systems preferred
â Basic knowledge of Autodesk Revit, Inventor, and hydraulic tools.
â Familiarity with SANS standards and by-laws
â Interest in ECSA registration
â Exposure to AI or water tech advantageous
