Junior Landfill Manager - Delmas Mpumalanga

SUMMARY:
A leading Waste Management Company is seeking the services of a Junior Landfill Manager for its operations in Klinkerstene Landfill Site - Delmas

POSITION INFO:

• Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in landfill operations,
• Establish productivity goals where needed; ensure adherence to operating standards; and manage labour hours and disposal expenses per established and agreed plans,
• Planning access roads, cell sizes, cell slopes, drainage, wet cell, waste depositing
• Give daily duties to subordinates
• Ensure landfill operations advance according to the operational plan
• Participate in site meetings, council meetings, internal audits, external audits, water monitoring, gas monitoring and development meetings.
• Execute other operational plans to help achieve or exceed the division’s budgeted goals,
• Able to direct established landfill operations procedures pertaining to erosion control measures within the boundary of waste and borrow areas,
• Determine and direct solid waste and daily cover placement efficiently,
• Maintain open and effective communications with Managers and other Site Supervisors to ensure coordinated operations,
• Ensure adherence to all safety regulations on the landfill for employees and users.
• Prepare and submit weekly reports and plant hours to Management
• Prepare and submit monthly reports to Management not later than three working days after month end
• Plan and organize efficient utilization of plant compliment on site
• Liaise with plant manager on duration of downtime before report to client on action plant
• Ability to monitor the leachate control system , logic controllers, lift-stations and pumps,
• Ensure grounds maintenance is performed as needed on the landfill (litter pick-up, grass cutting, and seeding),
• Supervise and complete minor facility maintenance as needed,
• Oversees regular inspections of equipment, facilities and all landfill operations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements governing the disposal of solid waste,
• Engage assigned employees in active participation to instill a culture of safety by demonstration of a personal commitment to safe operations and active personal outreach to operational employees.

Requirements:

• Project Management and/or Environmental related Qualification or similar
• ± 5 Years experience in a similar senior role
• Previous Waste Management Knowledge
• Strong Conflict resolution skills
• Strong Financial Acumen
