POSITION INFO:

We are looking for an exceptional and dynamic Junior KAM/ Sales Manager for an exceptional and dynamic Cape Town based food distributor. You will be highly motivated, have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of Food & Beverage and/ or FMCG successful sales / Key Accounts Management and Sales Management experience, along with a PROVEN sales track record. You will be a builder and nurturer of key relationships within the Food & Beverage sector and familiar with the major retailer’s internal systems. The Junior KAM/ Sales Manager is a HUNTER and will have a dedicated area where you will be responsible for achieving agreed upon revenue and growth targets as well as meeting business KPI’s. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Grow volume, revenue and share in the Key Account - this includes developing, selling, and execution of effective ranges with identified customers, and includes forecasting
  • Execution of plan with assigned customers – this includes monitoring performance and compliance, and conducting Business Reviews with senior managers
  • Setting objectives and tracking results – This includes visiting all key accounts on an appropriate frequency, and working with planograms
  • Identify & Win New Business – This includes new distribution, new customers & developing targets to secure
  • Coaching
  • Monitor sales and merchandising- Including providing management with reports identifying problem areas and presenting possible solutions
  • Client liaison
  • Perform sales calls as the call cycle requires, cold calling
  • Achieve agreed upon sales targets set by management
  • Manage a sales team
  • Manage deadlines
  • Submit daily reports on time
  • Manage the relationship between customer and supplier
  • Liaise with back-office team and supply chain to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Thoroughly understand margin, mark up and how to use these functions on calculators
  • Manage the relationship between customer and supplier
  • Ensure that credit customers are pay on or before terms are due
  • Continuously seek out opportunities in stores to grow sales and maximise stores potential by:
    1. Tying up combo deals
    2. In store promotions
    3. Tying up of promotional grids
    4. Gain additional forward share
  • Follow the returns policy procedure
  • Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints to maximize satisfaction
  • Continuously improve through feedback
  • Coordinate sales effort with team members and other departments

Requirements/Qualifications

  • MUST HAVE proven work record of 3 to 5 years of relevant Key Accounts Management experience (Food & Bev/ FMCG)
  • MUST HAVE Business, Marketing, Sales qualification
  • MUST HAVE proven sales track record
  • MUST BE accustomed to the buying culture and have working knowledge of the systems used by the large retailers, particularly Pick n’ & Pay, Checkers, Spar, Food Lovers etc
  • Minimum of Intermediate/Advanced experience in excel
  • Microsoft Office
  • Valid Driver’s License AND on car
  • Ability to measure and analyse key performance indicators (ROI and KPIs)
  • Understanding of store operations
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
