Junior Investment Analyst

Our client in the Financial Industry based in Johannesburg is currently looking to employ a Junior Investment Analyst.

The investment analyst will report to the Chief Investment Officer and will assist the Senior Investment Analyst. The role will entail supporting the partners, business development managers and the executives. 

Requirements:

• Tertiary education with a major in investment management/business science etc. preferable.
• CFA candidate/post tertiary degree desirable but not a requirement
• 3-5 years financial services experience
• Understanding of financial markets and products such as unit trusts required
• Experience in an asset management, investment management or wealth management environment would be preferred
• Good analytical skills and proficient in Excel
• Morningstar Direct or equivalent experience desirable
• Willingness to work in a small company which will entail being involved in several activities in the pursuance of our revenue objectives
• Service orientated as the role will entail providing an investment service to advisers
• Self-starter, team-orientated individual who must be prepared to roll up his/her sleeves
• Expected to work on Morningstar Direct/ FactSet/Infinitive (Thomson’s Reuters)

Multi Manager Unit Trusts:

• Relative performance and performance attribution analysis of the underlying fund managers
• Attending and minuting fund manager due diligences
• Attending to fund management queries from partners, portfolio managers and business development managers
• Fund analytics to support all investment marketing initiatives
• Updating the Multi-Manager playbook
• Monthly Morningstar performance data generation and send out Investment Committee

Private Client Securities:

• Compilation of client proposals and annual reviews to support new business activity
• Compilation of market and sector returns for inclusion in client reviews
• Portfolio manager business development support (economic charts, market returns, stock specific investment cases)
• PCS marketing support: update monthly proposal and review templates and PCS presentation templates
• Weekly PCS cash and yield data mailer
• Weekly equity watchlist tables and charts
• Maintain Morningstar PCS models
• Assist with analytics and data compilation for the bi-weekly /portfolio manager meetings
• Attend weekly PCS stock selection meeting

Managed Portfolio Strategies:

• Relative performance and performance attribution analysis of the underlying fund managers
• Attending and minuting fund manager due diligences
• Attending to fund management queries from partners and business development managers
• Fund analytics to support all investment marketing initiatives
• Compilation of accurate fund factsheets
• Maintain Morningstar MPS models
