Junior IT Technician

SUMMARY:
We are currently looking for a Junior IT Technician with the below requirements and competencies.

POSITION INFO:
Technical Competencies:

• CompTIA A+ certificate
• N+ certificate

• Maintain the IT IT infrastructure (Hardware/Software/Network)
• Compile and update the assets register with the name of the user/owner reflect with every PC, mouse, keyboard, headset etc.
• The register must cater for serial numbers or unique identifying names/numbers for every piece of hardware- as far as possible
• The register must reflect all changes and replacements of hardware at an individual level- it
• must be possible to track replacements, i.e. the old PC with the new, by simply consulting the register.

Network

• To Whitelist IP addresses, weekly report to the manager in a specific format:
• Top usage, time, and bandwidth by individuals as per IP addresses
• Ensure security of data, network access, and backup systems.
• Ensure that best practice is adhered to as far as anti-virus and security is concerned at the PC level and beyond.
• Wi-Fi Connectivity: to ensure that we are at all times 100% certain of who (devices) has access to wi-fi connectivity and on a regular (weekly) basis change the password to ensure maximum security.
• Microsoft o365 outlook mail user setup, and Mail-Archiva

Daily task

• Ensure that all information technology problems are attended to. Monthly incident report to be submitted by the last day of each month directly to the manager.
• Incidents will entail viruses detected, transgressions by individuals on the company’s Integrity
• Policy, lost stolen hardware, etc.
• Loading of new staff to ensure operational functionality, training, and coaching employees to access required applications.
• Creating staff on the following systems:
  • Biometric system
  • PBX system
  • Microsoft o365/CPanel (Mail-clients)
• Setting up users on the following systems:
  • Swordfish
  • Teleforge/BuzzBox
  • Printing
  • Gladius
  • Sylax
  • Outlook
  • VPN
  • Other URL links and applications as per requirements of the department.
• Block/unsubscribe all non-work-related emails to staff.
• Maintenance of all personal computers (including license fees and anti-viruses)
• Audit IT systems and assess their outcomes, back-up weekly reports to the manager of the department.
• Constant cleaning and upgrading of Personal Computers, including removal of any prohibited material, videos, music, photos, MP3s, and any non-work-related files, downloads, programs, applications, or documents.
• The following to be conducted in terms of a fixed schedule or on a need-to basis (ideally to be done when the owner of the pc is absent due to sickness, annual leave, training, etc.
  • Cleaning of Downloads folder,
  • Disk Cleanup,
  • Disk Defragmentation,
  • Software updates (OS (Windows/Linux Mint), Google Chrome, etc.)

Monthly tasks

• Compile and update the Asset register with the name of the user/owner reflected with every, PC, mouse, keyboard, headset, etc.
• Connectivity Report: All changes done on our Axxess dashboard, these include buying new services, cancelations or change in Data packages must be documented
• Cleaning of Downloads folder;
• Disk Cleanup;
•  Disk Defragmentation;
• Software updates (OS, Google Chrome, etc.)
