SUMMARY:
Junior Estimator (Permanent)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Objective:

Work closely with the Lead Estimator to produce complex and accurate estimates based on the agreed methodologies.
Become familiar with project work scopes and schedules.
Acquire a basic understanding of the project work breakdown structure (WBS) and how it applies to cost and schedule and future reporting requirements.
Be familiar with the corporate standard estimating procedures.
Understand the differences in estimate classes and the method of estimate development for each class.
Participate in the development of Estimate Methodologies and Basis of Estimate documents.
Support the collection, verification and integration of all work scopes into the estimate.
Liase with other operating departments to ensure the timely release of information in order to meet estimate deadlines.
Participate in the review of each estimate with the Lead Estimator and Manager, Project Controls, to confirm that correct estimating methodology has been used and agree the quality and accuracy of the estimate and contingency levels.
Assist in the preparation and presentation of estimating notes and all other documents required for departmental, management and client reviews.
Liaise with client estimating personnel as necessary under guidance of the Lead Estimator.
Maintain strict confidentiality of estimates and client information with regards to all third parties.
Prepare final project statistics.
Perform any other functions as directed by the Lead Estimator or Manager, Project Controls.

Qualifications:

National Diploma in Engineering or Quantity Surveying or equivalent.

Desirable

BSC or equivalent Engineering or Quantity Surveying Degree.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

No industry experience is required.

Desirable

Proficient user of MS Office, and in particular MS Excel.

Personal attributes:

Excellent organisational skills.
