Our client is a well-established multidisciplinary engineering company delivering technically challenging projects across the energy, metallurgical, chemical, manufacturing, infrastructure and air-pollution-control sectors.
They are looking for a recently qualified Junior EC&I Draughtsman / Modeller who is eager to develop a long-term career in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation draughting and design.
Previous EC&I working experience is not essential. If you have recently completed a relevant draughting qualification and have the technical aptitude, attention to detail and willingness to learn, our client is prepared to provide the guidance, mentoring and practical project exposure required to develop your skills.

About the Opportunity

You will work alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists and gradually learn how to translate engineering concepts and technical information into accurate, practical EC&I drawings and models.
As your experience develops, you will gain exposure to:

• Electrical, Control & Instrumentation drawings and models
• P&IDs and single-line diagrams
• Wiring and schematic drawings
• Electrical layouts for small power, lighting and cableways
• Instrument loop and hook-up drawings
• Equipment arrangement drawings
• Drawing registers, revisions and engineering documentation
• Multidisciplinary engineering coordination
• Site measurements, inspections and drawing verification

You will also gain exposure to engineering projects undertaken in South Africa and internationally.

POSITION INFO:

What We Are Looking For

🎓 A recently completed EC&I, Electrical or Instrumentation Draughting qualification, or another relevant recognised draughting/CAD qualification
💻 Training or exposure to AutoCAD is highly desirable
📐 Basic understanding of engineering drawings, electrical layouts and/or instrumentation drawings
⚡ A genuine interest in developing a career in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation draughting
🧠 Strong attention to detail and a logical, technically minded approach
🖥️ Exposure to software such as Revit, DesSoft, IronCAD or Autodesk Inventor would be advantageous, but is not essential
🗣️ Good communication skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary engineering team
🚀 Most importantly – a willingness to learn, take guidance and develop your technical skills
