JOB DESCRIPTION:

Junior cyber security analyst
A swiftly growing business based in Bryanston. We are seeking a junior cyber security analyst with at least a relevant qualification, who is willing to learn and further their skills. As the cyber security analyst you will be monitoring our systems for suspicious activity, evaluating and improving our existing security measures, and attempting to find any vulnerabilities within our system as well as aiding in the fixing of such vulnerabilities. Most of our servers are Linux (Ubuntu server) based so a good deal of knowledge about Linux will be beneficial. This opportunity will be on-location. Responsibilities:
● Performing penetration testing
● Actively test existing and new systems for security vulnerabilities
● Stay up to date with the latest security news and react appropriately to relevant news
● Monitoring systems for unusual activity
● Aid in setting up automated monitoring and detection systems
● Train and guide other staff on security best practices
● Aid in the maintenance and setting up of security and backup systems
● Generating and maintaining various system security reports Skills you will need for this role include:
● Penetration testing
● Ethical hacking
● Experience with firewalls, IDS, anti-virus and other basic security technology
● Linux (Ubuntu server primarily)
● Understanding of threats applicable to various common systems
● Nginx (optional bonus)
● Apache (optional bonus) Other requirements include:
● Must have completed Matric (with regular mathematics)
● A computer science degree and/or specific cyber security education
● At least a year of professional experience will improve your chance
