Junior Buyer

Our client has an opportunity available for a Junior Buyer based in Centurion.

Requirements:

• Electronic component knowledge and experience – Inherent requirement.
• Good knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding and cost breakdown.
• Excellent listening and writing English communication skills- essential.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, whilst remaining approachable.
• Integrity and trustworthiness.
• Keen attention to detail and accuracy to ensure all purchase orders are accurate.
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as a team member.
• Ability to take on increasing levels of responsibility.
• Willingness to work beyond normal office hours when required.
• Matric certificate.
• Able to add value, reduce costs and provide positive input to business improvements.
• Computer literate, with advanced Excel skills.
• Familiarity with Sage Pastel Partner- beneficial.
• Own reliable transport preferable.

Responsibilities:

• Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
• Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact business operations.
• Develop and maintain an effective and accurate system for monitoring purchase orders.
• Source suitable suppliers.
• Assist the procurement manager with maintaining inventory levels and materials.
• Maintain relationships with existing suppliers while seeking new ones.
• Chase outstanding orders or back orders.
• Generate and update buying processes as required.
• Document and update supplier information.
• Assess quality and accuracy of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to the procurement manager.
• Prepare reports and updates as and when required.
• Compile data relating to supplier performance to enable evaluation.
• Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues.
