Junior Bookkeeper

SUMMARY:
The group is on the lookout for a Bookkeeper. This role will be responsible for accurate recording and maintaining of our financial transactions, such as purchases, expenses, revenue, invoices, and payments. The role would suit a skilled, hands-on and experienced individual looking for a new challenge. The Bookkeeper must be an organized multitasker able to work in a fast-paced business environment and be able to handle many diverse projects at once and meet tight deadlines. This is a remote, work-from-home position. Candidates must be located in Gauteng

POSITION INFO:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• SA Citizens only
• Diploma, certificate in relevant field would be advantageous
• 3+ years’ experience in a similar role

• Basic accounting knowledge
• Data entry skills
• High attention to detail
• Produce work with a high level of accuracy
• Professionalism and organization skills
• Knowledge of SAGE Online, SAGE Payroll, Microsoft Office suite, google Business Suite, or similar applications

• Maintain accurate records of financial transactions;
• Update and maintain the general ledger;
• Reconciliation of entries into the accounting system;
• Account reconciliation to assert the accuracy of transactions;
• Apply knowledge of local laws to comply with reporting requirements;
• Monitor any variances from the projected budget;
• Maintaining payroll information by collating, calculating and entering data;
• Updating payroll records by entering any changes to employee information or benefits such as job title changes, exemptions and saving deductions;
• Preparing reports that include summaries of earnings, tax deductions, leave, compassionate leave and non-taxable wages;
• Calculating payroll liabilities by determining employee taxes, including federal and state income and social security tax, and calculating employer’s payments for social security, unemployment and worker’s compensation;
• Resolving payroll discrepancies and answering any employee payroll queries;
• Maintaining all payroll operations according to company policies and procedures;
• Processing and issuing W-2 forms to employees;
• Providing assistance to the Senior Accountant as and when needed.
