SUMMARY:

An established distributor of Agricultural products is seeking a Junior Agronomist to visit the different supplier farms in the area with the aim to assist the farmers to comply to the requirements of the different retailers that they service and to support the Senior Agronomist.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum requirements for the role:

Must have a BSc. Agric in Agronomy or similar
Basic experience in compliance would be ideal
Experience with vegetables would be nice to have
Good communication skills, specifically in English and Afrikaans, with the ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders of all levels, will be required
Must have a valid drivers’ license and be willing to travel

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Providing technical support to clients on supplier vegetable crops.
Performing general problem solving and fault finding during field activities to enable successful compliance to retailer’s requirements.
Conducting frequent inspection of farming activities to ensure high success rates and timely harvest and planting activities.
Compiling detailed data records regarding results.
Conducting research on plants and soil in order to develop better planting, cultivation, and harvesting techniques, improve crop yield, and provide guidance on challenges facing the industry.
Compiling fertilizer and other recommendations for farmers requirements.
Visiting fields to scout for nutritional deficiencies and diseases.
Assisting with generating reports and presenting findings to management, clients, or other interested parties.
Promoting products and techniques through educational presentations.

Salary package, including benefits, are highly negotiable depending on experience gained
