JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client in the renewable energy sector, based in the Cape Town region is currently looking to employ an experienced Junior Accountant.

Requirements:

Accounting qualification, e.g. National Diploma in Accounting/BCom in Accounting.
Strong accounting background/solid track record of processing accounting transactions, preparing trial balances, preparing monthly management accounts, preparing and submitting statutory returns, etc.
Valid driver’s license and own transport (non-negotiable).
Pastel experience beneficial.
Strong administrative skills.
Excellent team player and able to work independently.
Highly meticulous, with excellent attention to detail.

Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:

Record transactions in the correct journals and post the entries to the relevant ledger accounts.
Prepare trial balances.
Prepare management accounts.
Make sure that supplier invoices and accounts are paid on time. Load payments on the electronic banking system.
Issue invoices and statements of account to customers and ensure that customers settle their accounts promptly.
Completion of the month-end financial close process.
Prepare and submit PAYE, VAT, Tax and Dividends Tax returns.
Assist with processing of Forex applications and assisting with FICA requests from banks.
Collating all documentation for financial audits and BEE Audits.
Petty cash and credit card reconciliations.
Manage Fixed Assets Register/Inventory.
Liaise with SARS to ensure all relevant taxes are accurately calculated and submitted and ensuring that the Tax Clearance Certificates are always up to date.
Liaise with the department of Labour and ensuring that all letters of good standing are up to date.
Determine quarterly spend obligation.
Compile and present quarterly spend budget.
Payment requests administration – follow up with suppliers.
Monitoring and recording of spending per project on a monthly and quarterly basis.
Maintain the Master Database for historical payments, project records, categories allocation, recording of all payments made.
Maintain Project Folders on Dropbox– contracts, beneficiaries details and spending.
Maintain monthly reports relating to Project expenditure.
Prepare monthly and quarterly reports in full compliance with the Department’s requirements as per the Implementation Agreement.
Participate in the Annual ED Plan compilation.
Identify program risks and initiate mitigation measures.
Assist with IPPO audits.
